The Komodo Island

As the home to the one and only Komodo Dragon, exotic beaches and to some of the most exotic marine life, the Komodo island or the group of islands are Indonesia’s valuable gems; there are 29 volcanic islands, out of which 3 are major ones – Rinca, Padar and Komodo. The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also the latest addition to the list of 7 Wonders of Nature. The most famous inhabitant of the group of islands is the Komodo Dragon, the largest and heaviest living lizard in the world, with an average size of 2-3 meters. This Park attracts Photographers, Scientists and Divers from across the world – just for its biodiversity, in the land mass as well as the seas. The fierce currents, riptides and whirlpools experienced in these waters bring the necessary rich nutrients from the depths of the ocean – creating ideal conditions for exotic fish and corals to flourish.
